In 2010 the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, causing a huge environmental disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. Because of my love for blues and jazz music, I had been intrigued by the Deep South, although I never had the chance to visit. I decided to reconstruct the effects of the oil spill in small scale models for a series of staged photographs. I worked on the series of docufictional pictures until 2011, when I showed them in Box 13 ArtSpace, Houston, Texas.
